Recovery & Downtime
Recovery from arm liposuction surgery takes very little time. Compression garments or bandages are used to reduce swelling and bruising and provide support to the skin and muscle tissues as they heal over the first two weeks following surgery.
Patients often see results immediately even though temporary swelling is to be expected.
As new collagen tightens the treated area, patients can expect to see skin tightening over the next six months.
Most patients can return to work relatively quickly, but during the first two weeks after surgery, patients should plan to avoid strenuous activity so that the body can heal. After surgery, few patients experience discomfort, but if the patient feels pain or numbness.
The tiny incisions will disappear in time.
Risks
Like all operative procedures, including liposuction in Atlanta, there is a risk of infection. But at our facility, we have a very low infection rate well below 1%. Contour irregularities can also occur when performing liposuction procedures. At Atlanta Liposuction Specialty Clinic, our liposuction specialists are very skilled and focused on providing consistent, natural-looking results in all their liposuction Atlanta procedures..
Arm Liposuction vs Arm Lift Brachioplasty
These are two (2) different procedures. In simple terms, an arm lift removes excess skin and liposuction removes excess fat. The final objective is to improve arm contour.
Arm Lift or Brachioplasty, is the surgical reduction of the redundant skin and fat of the upper arm that can develop with age. Arm liposuction on the other hand, is a less invasive alternative to an arm lift.
Patients with history of considerable weight loss, over 45 or with arm stretch marks might be better candidates for an Arm Lift procedure.
For a patient with both loose skin and stubborn fat a good option is to combine both procedures – first the liposuction to reduce the fat deposits and then the lift to remove the extra sagging skin.
While every surgical procedure can cause some degree of scarring, there is a significant difference between scars from liposuction vs. arm lift surgery. Most liposuction techniques require very small incisions that can be discreetly placed to minimize visibility.
Arm lift surgery, requires a larger incision which may be visible along the inside of the arm.

The initial results of tumescent liposuction are visible after a few weeks and leave minimal, hard-to-see scars. The incision site is so small that it won’t require more than 1 suture and it will heal within a matter of days.
The laser-equipped cannula will burn the fat cells and promote new collagen that will help with skin tightening. Patients with mild to moderate skin laxity will see an improvement in skin tone and firmness with BodyTite.
