Who is a good Candidate for an Arm Liposuction?

The Procedure

With the Tumescent technique, only a local anesthetic is used to numb the area and the patient remains coherent throughout the procedure, which is very safe and relatively painless during recovery.

Very few small incisions are made in the upper arms to insert the 3mm cannula laser instrument, which gently melts away and vacuums the fat, while tightening the skin.

Through the 3mm incisions, the surgeon slowly guides the cannula to the targeted areas to remove the excess fat with precision and resulting in less pain, bruising and downtime for the patient.

You will go through standard pre-op tests.
You will receive a mild sedative and local anesthesia.
Small incisions will allow the doctor to access the fat area.
A three-part fluid is injected in the area: 1) lidocaine to numb the areas avoiding the need for general anesthesia, 2) Epinephrine to constrict your blood vessels to prevent excessive bleeding, 3) a saline solution to dislodge the fat cells and fat tissue.
Using a microcannula, the doctor finds and removes the fat by tumescent liposuction.
The laser-equipped cannula will burn the fat cells and promote new collagen that will help with skin tightening.
The operation takes less than two hours.

Recovery & Downtime

Recovery from arm liposuction surgery takes very little time. Compression garments or bandages are used to reduce swelling and bruising and provide support to the skin and muscle tissues as they heal over the first two weeks following surgery.

Patients often see results immediately even though temporary swelling is to be expected.

Arm Liposuction vs Arm Lift Brachioplasty

These are two (2) different procedures. In simple terms, an arm lift removes excess skin and liposuction removes excess fat. The final objective is to improve arm contour.

Arm Lift or Brachioplasty, is the surgical reduction of the redundant skin and fat of the upper arm that can develop with age. Arm liposuction on the other hand, is a less invasive alternative to an arm lift.

Patients with history of considerable weight loss, over 45 or with arm stretch marks might be better candidates for an Arm Lift procedure.
