- WaterLipo a trending liposuction alternative
Until recently, laser liposuction was the latest advance in body contouring, fat removal and skin tightening. Laser liposuction machines have been produced by many companies including Cynosure with the popular SmartLipo™ system and Sciton Aesthetic Laser Company.
WaterLipo®, on the other hand, uses a gentle stream of water to literally dislodge fat that is then gently washed out of the body. WaterLipo® is safer than traditional liposuction due to it being performed under local anesthesia using the tumescent technique and it is more effective at removing fat then laser liposuction alone.
Is abdominal WaterLipo® the right choice for me?
Men and women alike benefit from abdominal liposuction. The WaterLipo® procedure is the most advanced form of liposuction that allows for moderate amounts of fat to be safely reduced with minimal time of work. Patients will feel instantaneous results. Men regain definition, even the most desired abdominal region. Women get a slimmer, more refined waist and they regain a shapely, contoured figure. Men and women, both recapture a smoother stomach area from their younger years, before pregnancy, age and weight gain. The recovery time is quick and typically, there is minimal swelling and pain after the procedure.
What should I expect from the procedure?
WaterLipo® and all other tumescent liposuction procedures are performed on-site in our safe, state-of-the-art clinic, so there are no additional fees. Patients are lightly sedated with a couple of valium pills but they remain awake and coherent throughout the procedure. The process is simple. A couple of tiny incisions are made in the upper and lower abdomen through which the area is numbed (like in a dentists office). Then, the body jet cannulas are introduced through those incisions. Water is released from the tip of the cannulas and the water pressure literally dislodges fat which is then gently suctioned away. The cannula is only 3 mm in diameter, so it leaves no unsightly scars. Abdominal liposuction lasts only one to two hours, and patients are able to walk out of the office with a newly sculpted body. Patients are not permitted to drive, however because of the medications that are administered for relaxation. Each patient will need to be picked up after the surgery and driven home.
What determines a good candidate for this procedure?
It is recommended that patients are in good health when undergoing any procedure to reduce risks and potential complications. Abdominal liposuction is not recommended for individuals who are grossly overweight or obese. This procedure is not a means of removing weight in excess, it is a more a procedure to remove moderate amounts of fat and contour the mid-section and waist area of the body. This procedure is not recommended for people that have fatty deposits under the abdominal muscle and around the organs because this cannot be accessed by any kind of liposuction. To help find out if you are a good candidate, please email us for a free consultation.
Will the surgery leave scars or excess, sagging skin?
The tiny incisions used in abdominal liposuction rarely leave any sign of the procedure. The skin closes very quickly and in most cases the tiny incisions are mistaken for freckles or are completely invisible in just a few weeks. By contrast, scarring is a big concern with tummy tucks and traditional liposuction where incisions are much larger.
The mentioned technique causes significant skin retraction eliminating loose skin. In patients with more skin or older patients, typically WaterLipo® is done in conjunction with laser skin tightening AND post-procedure skin tightening treatments using non-invasive broadband light. These procedures in combination have revolutionized the treatment of the skin with liposuction and have kept many patients from needing to undergo a more invasive tummy tuck.
Are there any post-surgery side effects?
Liposuction done with tumescent anesthesia is a safe and targeted procedure and the WaterLipo® technique is the most gentle liposuction technology available. The side effects are minimal and any discomfort or mild soreness goes away quickly. There are no stitches and the tiny incisions heal within a few days and leave no noticeable scars. Patients may have mild discomfort and swelling, but they can walk and resume normal activities usually the next day. Each patient is required to wear a compression garment under their clothes around the procedure area for about one week.
There may be some swelling in the abdominal area after the procedure, which will subside quickly. Significant improvements may be noticeable even in two weeks with the result getting better and better for a few months.
- The Amazing Little-known Benefits of Non-Surgical Liposuction
Liposuction is arguably synonymous with cosmetic surgery nowadays. Over the past few decades, it has become almost the face of every cosmetic surgery expert you come across online today. But there’s a new breed that has emerged recently. That’s non-surgical liposuction.
Given that the procedure is basically non-invasive in comparison to the older conventional method of doing things, liposuction is one the best methods that is applicable to people who are looking for a quick body trimming or losing excess belly fat within a short timeframe.
When it comes down to liposuction, you doctor will most probably ask several questions about your overall health before recommending you for liposuction. Hence, a person looking to go down this road should ideally be in almost excellent physical condition to avoid complications later.
Risk-free and Safe
Compared to surgical liposuction, this method is quite safe and risk-free and, therefore, preferred by many over other conventional procedures. In addition to that, since there is no need for local or general anaesthesia ( its non-surgical after all), the recovery is almost instant and you won’t have to worry about drowsiness and dizziness. What’s more, patients can easily and conveniently go back to their lives a few hours after the session.
On the hand, if you have a bias against the scarring and bruising left behind by most surgical procedures, then you will find this type of non-invasive liposuction quite handy and welcome. In the worst case scenario, you will only have to deal with minor soreness and a slight irritation in the localized areas. This implies that the surrounding tissues will not be necessarily damaged or punctured regardless of how extensive the procedure is.
Long-lasting and Yields Aesthetically Better Results
The results of this type of procedure from the patient point of view are far much long lasting particularly when compared to surgical liposuction. For instance, instead of simply getting rid of the excess pounds, it is also proven to contribute to help eliminate wrinkles and folds in the skin by promoting skin tightening. In fact, for most patients, stretch marks and cellulite are typically much lesser and noticeable after a successful non-surgical liposuction procedure than with the surgical method.
And for those who know a little about the traditional surgical liposuction medicine, this new type of liposuction is less stressful and painful than the alternative. The procedure usually aims to get rid of the excess fat by thawing and beating up the cells rather squeezing it off thus eliminating the need for hospitalization afterwards.
- Hair & Eyebrows Regrowth NEW DISCOVERY!
Dear Esteemed Patient,
After many years of reading about potential hair loss treatments and seeing many claims for hair regrowth come and go, I recently had the opportunity to witness how Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), mixed with a combination of Vitamin D3, B vitamins and minerals truly stimulates hair regrowth in men ANDwomen! If you or someone you know has suffered with thinning hair or even hair loss, this amazing and natural procedure may be your answer!
Our blood contains small components such as red cells, white cells, and platelets. Platelets, however, have numerous proteins called growth factors which are essential for healing and regenerative processes. For many years, Orthopedic Surgeons and other physicians have used PRP therapy on athletes such as Tiger Woods in order to promote faster healing and tissue regeneration as well as speed the healing process. But now, this amazing therapy is being embraced by Cosmetic Surgeons due to its remarkable improvement in procedure outcomes! For example, when I perform autologous fat transfer surgery with PRP, my patients have seen impressive improvements and results.
One may first ask how injecting the scalp with these components can stimulate hair growth. Because platelets contain numerous growth factors, these vascular, endothelial and connective tissue growth factors combined with other components called cytokines, contribute to the stimulation of dormant hair follicles and thickening of thinning hair follicles. It also has been noted that when the hair regrows that it comes in as its native hair color, rather than grey!
The procedure begins by obtaining 60cc of blood from the patient’s arm. That blood is then placed in a special laser guided centrifuge system which separates the red blood cells from the PRP which takes about 20 minutes. During that time, the scalp is numbed with both topical creams as well as injections of lidocaine. Once numb, the scalp is injected with the vitamin and mineral mixture as well as with an ACell solution. ACell is a porcine bladder derivative which has been successfully used in hair transplantation surgery for years.
The PRP injection is then performed. The final process of the procedure is completed using a micro needling device to create very fine holes in the scalp. A byproduct of the PRP system is “PPP” which is platelet poor plasma. PPP has growth factors but to a lesser degree than PRP. This solution is spread on top of the scalp and will be left there overnight. The patient is then instructed to wash their hair the following morning. The total office time is about 60 to 90 minutes. Women usually need one treatment and men need 2 treatments, 2 months apart. If you or someone you know can benefit from this amazing procedure, please call our office at 770-416-000 to schedule your free cosmetic consultation!

- Contour… AND Enhance? You Can When You Have Dr. Louis Cole
Dear Cole Patient,
Spring is in full swing and in no time warm weather will be here. For most of us, the idea of this year being the “year of change” was easier to believe a few months ago. Once the weather starts to warm up, many of us start to feel defeated and convince ourselves it is too late to make a change.
Fortunately, safer and minimally-invasive advancements in our field have changed all that. Trust me when I tell you that IT IS NOT TOO LATE to make a change!
Cosmetic surgery has come a long way in the last 15 to 20 years especially after lasers were introduced. But no surgical technique has been more revolutionary than…liposuction!
When people think of liposuction, aka “lipo”, they usually think of the old-school, highly-invasive, back-and-forth motion they once saw on an episode of Nip Tuck. Boy, have we advanced!
Nowadays, instruments are so much smaller now- we use micro-lasers & micro-canulas; Downtime is now just 2-3 days (as opposed to 2-3 weeks like before); Safety is at its highestsince it’s now performed using local anesthetics (known as tumescent fluid) versus general anesthesia. But, none of these benefits even compare to the one challenge our lasers can finally address: SKIN!!
You see, back then with traditional lipo (say, the 80’s) the problem was never removing fat. The problem was the remaining loose skin which often times would have to be cut (hence how tummy tucks became so popular). Upon advancing and implementing the use of a laser, we were able to not only liquify the fatty tissue, but more importantly, induce skin tightening through thermal heating and tissue coagulation. THE RESULT: a smaller, tighter area!
And what can we do with fatty tissue once it is removed from an area in our bodies? Simple- reuse it in another area (better known as fat transfer procedures like Brazilian Butt Lift and Natural Breast Augmentation).
So, whether you are looking to have a body-makeover, sculpt a certain area, or simply add curve to your backside, this is the time to do it.
But remember, contouring and enhancing is an art… not a factory-line skill that you do by the masses. As your cosmetic surgeon, I guarantee you have a physician in me who will help identify the personal changes that are right FOR YOU, all while providing you with the safest care.
