What is SmartLipo?

SmartLipo (laser liposuction) is a laser-based liposuction procedure to melt and remove fat cells safely and rapidly.

Only a highly-skilled, trained physician should perform this cosmetic surgery procedure.

At Atlanta Liposuction Specialty Clinic, we only use the most advanced technology.  The Smart Lipo Triplex with Thermoguard laser system reduces the possibility of injury if the laser temperature goes too high.

Done under tumescent local anesthesia, the variable-length SmartLipo procedure is an outpatient procedure performed in as little as two to four hours.

The doctor starts by injecting a solution to numb the treatment area with a combination of lidocaine (a numbing agent) and epinephrine (a blood vessel constrictor to reduce bleeding)

The cosmetic surgeon uses a cannula which is a tube to evenly distribute the solution for better results.

The cannula is equipped with a powerful variable wavelength laser beam used to liquefy and extract fat from the targeted areas.

This laser has three specific wavelengths that enable our expert surgeons to both melt the excess fat, sculpt the space between the muscle and the skin during the procedure.

Smart Lipo cosmetic surgery promotes collagen production after the fat cell removal procedure to produce better final results.

Smart Lipo is the preferred method to do some skin-tightening procedures around many body parts.

Why choose SmartLipo over traditional liposuction under general anesthesia?

Traditional liposuction used to be a sizeable invasive procedure using a large cannula with powerful but imprecise suction. To minimize discomfort, it usually required general anesthesia and expensive hospitalization.

Laser Lipo uses a combination of advanced technologies, namely efficient local anesthetics, proven blood vessel constrictors, and variable-length laser wands, to perform the surgery quicker, safer with longer-lasting results. In the same procedure, a cosmetic or plastic surgeon can also do body sculpting, body contour in different body areas. Thus, the name Smart Lipo.

Laser Lipolysis works by inserting an advanced microcannula through a small incision below the skin to access fat deposits. The precise instrument is less bruising to the surrounding tissue as it can easily access fat pearls and allows for a shortened recovery time.

The cannula serves two purposes: 1) it liquefies the fat deposit by heat produced by laser energy 2) it acts as an extraction point for the fat removal.

The smart Lipo laser fiber helps to seal off blood vessels, decreasing bleeding, bruising, and post-operative swelling.

Following surgery, the laser-treated area will accelerate collagen production while eliminating the dead body cells. The new collagen causes the skin to appear tighter and reduces dimpling.

What body fat areas can benefit from laser lipo treatment?

  • Abdominal (abdomen, stomach, and tummy)
  • Ankles
  • Arms
  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Breast reduction
  • Calf
  • Cankles
  • Chin
  • Double Chin
  • FUPA
  • Flanks (Love Handles)
  • Gynecomastia (Man Boobs and Male Breast)
  • Inner Thighs (thigh gap)
  • Knees
  • Leg (Upper and Lower)
  • Neck
  • Outer Thighs (Saddlebags)
  • Upper Arms

As you can see, unwanted fat is no match for laser surgery. The secret is to have the proper surgeon who will be competent to use the powerful laser tool. Research shows that it takes time for cosmetic surgeons to perfect their technique and reduce the risk of burning skin or muscle. Some inexperienced surgeons may also require revisions. This is an extremely rare case at Atlanta Liposuction. Our 20yrs of experience gives you the assurance that we can perform your surgery safely with a minimum of complications.

What can I expect from SmartLipo?

SmartLipo can be performed in as little as two hours and only one laser-assisted liposuction procedure. The downtime is minimal. Patients can often return to work the next day, while others require more time.

Some of the effects are numbness and swelling for the first day or so. They disappear rapidly.

There can be some pain in the treated area for up to two weeks.

Normal activities can resume in about a week.

Avoid any strenuous workout to the treated area for at least three weeks.

It is advisable to wear your compression garment to support the treated area. It will allow for the contouring procedure to maximize your results while reducing swelling.

The small incisions will heal and disappear over time.

Keeping the incision sites clean will reduce chances of infection and side effects

If the area becomes red or has excessive leaking, call the clinic

A healthy diet consisting of low-fat protein, fresh fruits, and vegetables is essential for a fast and successful recovery.

The orange peel look of cellulite may diminish with the production of the new collagen and associated skin tightening.

The long-lasting results will be gradual over the first year. The body will naturally eliminate the dead fat cells. New blood vessels will grow.

If you regain fat, it usually grows in other parts first before returning to the treated areas.

Loose skin will resolve depending on your age, the amount of fat removed, and your skin elasticity.

Liposuction will not replace a properly supervised weight loss program.

Realistic expectations at the onset will give the best chances of being happy with the results.
