Liposuction on the hips and buttocks: Can provide a perfect image?

Posted on: September 26, 2022

Liposuction of the inner and outer surface of the thighs helps to get closer to the desired parameters, to give the silhouette grace and harmony. Modern methods make it possible to achieve excellent results in a short time.

Contrary to popular belief, liposuction is not about removing the optimal amount of fat. More importantly, how much fat remains after surgery to ensure that the body’s natural contours are preserved.

Meanwhile, removing too much fat not only destroys the body’s natural contours but also leads to skin irregularities that are difficult, if not impossible, to completely correct.

Thigh liposuction usually involves correcting the flanks to create a smoother, more natural transition.

On the other hand, liposuction of the buttocks itself is not a common procedure due to the increased risk of skin asymmetry and sagging appearance. This is especially true when treating the lower half of the buttocks.

It is known that excess fat in the upper part of the buttocks makes it flatter and wider. For this reason, liposuction can dramatically improve the appearance of the buttocks even without the use of silicone implants or a Brazilian buttock lift (fat transfer).

But for a small number of patients who complain about their excessively large buttocks, direct liposuction can be done, although certain steps must be taken to avoid dimpling, sagging, and other unwanted side effects.

It is important to note that the amount of fat removed should be determined not only by the desired size of the patient after surgery. Perhaps a more important factor is the elasticity of the skin, or its ability to re-drape into a new contour.

Removing a volume that is too large for the skin to handle will result in a wide range of problems such as visible and/ or palpable rippling and sagging appearance. While skin asymmetry can be improved by fat transfer, which is essentially a “reverse” liposuction procedure, patients can only expect some level of improvement as opposed to a complete cure.

Simply put, the goal of liposuction of the thighs and buttocks is to remove just the right amount of fat and leave behind enough adipose tissue to preserve the body’s natural contours and maintain a smooth skin surface.

The advantages of liposuction are that:

  • it can be combined with lipofilling;
  • it allows you to achieve the desired shapes quickly, safely, and without much effort;
  • the effect of the procedure is noticeable almost immediately.

There are several types of liposuction. Among the most popular methods, today are:

  • vibrational;
  • vacuum;
  • ultrasonic;
  • cryolipolysis
